Stop It! - a better timer for OS X

Weird Walking Whatzit Widgets? Why not!

When you're looking to time something, you don't want to fiddle around and you don't want a countdown timer that gets in the way. Stop It!'s clean, unobtrusive interface lets you start counting down with the fewest possible keystrokes and clicks.

Type a number of minutes; a duration in hours, minutes and seconds; or a time to go off. Then press enter. That's it! No fiddling with preference panes, no clicking on tiny targets.

Front Panel

Stop It! interface is refreshingly easy to navigate. The front panel has two fields:

Stop It! preferences are reached in the usual way - by clicking on the little i in the lower right hand corner of its window.

At this time the only preference is the color of the front window. This is handy if you want to use multiple copies of the widget for timing different things.

If not for Google and the plethora of JavaScript and CSS tutorials, demostrations and all about the town information, Stop It! would still be fluttering around my head like a bemused bat. Any errors, mistatements and so forth, are my responsiblility. The sounds is a modified version of a Zen bell from the Free Sound project.

Installation Notes

Apple Computer would like you to hear that:

Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger is required. If you're using Safari, click the download link. When the widget download is complete, show Dashboard, click the Plus sign to display the Widget Bar and click the widget's icon in the Widget Bar to open it. If you're using a browser other than Safari, click the download link. When the widget download is complete, unarchive it and place it in /Library/Widgets/ in your home folder. show Dashboard, click the Plus sign to display the Widget Bar and click the widget's icon in the Widget Bar to open it.
