You would think that "we" would have some ideas of how to design and build a mission critical system by now where "we" means the general computer scientist / computer industry person. But this NYT story makes it clear that too many obvious principles haven't leaked out into the world the way they should have.

  • Involve users in the process?
  • Make simple things simple?
  • Test first?

Nah, let's use MS Windows and slap together a bunch junk and then foist it off on people who can't do their jobs because the software is so piss poor. Yeah, that's the ticket. Sigh.
