The 100 Days
Friday, September 24, 2004

Only one book remains for me in Patrick O'Brian's most excellent series of historical fiction. Although its best parts were exceptionally sound, the 100 days seemed rather uneven to me. Perhaps I wasn't paying attention, but I kept coming across the conclusions of plot lines whose beginnings I did not recall. Still, its attention to the details of both the drawing room and the vasty deeps places this book happily amongst its many siblings.
