Name that Baby
Tuesday, March 8, 2005

The NameVoyager visually presents the popularity of names over time. The sources of the data are unknown and, presumably, biased. It also has one horrible flaw: when multiple names are shown, they are not scaled so that their counts can be compared. Finally, it uses an unnecessary animation to transition between searches - the animation is pretty but adds nothing to the presentation of the data. Even with these flaws, however, the NameVoyager is pretty damn cool. It's fun to see how popularity ebbs and flows.
