Doug Engelbart
Monday, June 6, 2005

Naive enough to decide that his goal would be to find a career that

that will maximize the contribution my career can make to mankind.

Smart enough to succeed!

Doug Engelbart's IT Conversations presentation on Large Scale Collective IQ from Accelerating change, 2004 is a wonderful view of a mind that has wrestled constantly with the fundamental challenge of our time:

Mankind is not getting smarter at anything like the rate that complexity is accelerating

so the only hope is to find ways to improve our collective intelligence! Humble, funny, and (dare I say it) wise, Engelbart's words are worth hearing and his ideas need to find incarnation.
