A Knight of the Word
Monday, October 18, 2004

I haven't read Terry Brooks for ages and ages. The various Shannara books were fun but too similar and, well, deus ex machina to be completely satisfying. So it was a with a bit of surprise that I found a darker, more mature Brooks dealing with humanity's current crises (albeit in the realm of fantasy). The characters are still a bit too earnest and take some situations too seriously but Brooks has definitely improved. I look forward to reading or listening to the first book and, someday, the third.
